Independent Working Class Politics Takes Up The Issue Of Empowering The Individual Personality

June 12, 2019

The Workers Party, USA, sees man as the ultimate value. People’s welfare and happiness must be the ultimate goal of any humane society.

This is one of the infinite reasons why the crowned achievement we are seeking through independent political organization is to bring the working class and people to power. This aim is taken up so that the state power becomes an instrument for the emancipation of the working class, an instrument through which the people reclaim the public authority and use it to solve the problems facing society and advance.

We define the main reason for man’s enslavement as the capitalist system. We define the chief historical force that liquidates that reason as the proletariat. And we define the means for this emancipation as socialist revolution.

The Marxist-Leninist theory of class struggle, socialist revolution, and the dictatorship of the proletariat does not preach coercion as the bourgeois falsifiers would have you believe. Rather, it offers proof of the means necessary for ending man’s enslavement by man and for achieving truly humane relations among people.

It is in the revolutionary struggle that one becomes a personality, asserts freedom and dignity, and develops one’s abilities to the full. Conversely, philistine adjustment to an exploiter social system suppresses or cripples the personality and breeds all types of socially undeveloped and intellectually repressed individuals who live in constant fear of everything; the police, strikes, and participation in social movements.

Each man is a personality, i.e. a bearer of socially significant traits. That is to say, each person is at one and the same time the product of the social environment and an original and unique expression of this environment; of the general in life and in his or her social group.

One of the biggest lies you are ever told, is that there is nothing you personally can do about the “overwhelming power” of the dominant institutions that run the world.

Take for example, the fact that people rightly feel alienated and excluded by the present two-party monopoly. Aren’t the government and other institutions of the state such as the scholar despots, union misleaders, and the mass media continually trying to de-politicize people and tell them that there really is nothing they can do to change the situation? And isn’t this occurring in direct opposition to the fact that every day more and more people are expressing their opposition to the current political set-up and speaking out against it? Isn’t the solution to develop the genuine alternative through which the workers and people can come out and create space for their own aims and agenda?

Isn’t it this necessity of changing the inner and outer conditions of our existence which demands the creation of an entirely new situation in the U.S.; a situation in which we have an entirely revolutionary party leading the cause of the working and oppressed people of the U.S. forward?

This is the necessity for change that we recognize.
